Raising capital is an important part of the journey for many founders, yet when the time comes to raise, you're expected to take on the load and keep the business moving along, business as usual. These two priorities have the ability to make or break one another, which is why managing them effectively is so important.
One of the biggest differentiators between those who get funded and those who don't is preparation. Obvious as it may seem, you need to raise the right amount, at the right time, from the right investors, and that requires groundwork. That means knowing what investors are looking for at each stage, ensuring you're demonstrating the proof points that make you credible to raise, turning this into a compelling narrative that resonates with your target investor, and knowing who the right investor for you is in the first place.
Every round is different, too. What worked at Pre-Seed will be different at Seed, Series A and Series B, so you're required to relearn the game with every new raise.
Having visibility of all that is crucial, but not easily done.
We're giving female leaders from the Boardwave community, ranging from Pre-Seed to Series B, the chance to get this insight. Together with Wilson Sonsini and HSBC Innovation Banking, we're running the Fundraising Pitch Clinic, an afternoon to get feedback on your funding strategy and narrative from those backing companies at your stage. Grouped by funding stage, each founder will have the opportunity to pitch to a relevant panel of investors and get practical feedback ahead of their next raise.
The focus of the day will be constructive peer learning in a supportive environment. Founders watch every pitch, so the afternoon is as much about learning from each other as it is about leaving the day with a sharper story and new investor relationships.
If you are a woman founder looking to pitch, complete our application form by 6 November with details about your business and funding stage. Successful founders will be notified of their selection in mid-November. Pitch applications will be assessed on the following criteria: strength and clarity of the investment opportunity, and readiness to benefit from investor feedback ahead of the fundraise.
You must complete the form to be considered for the clinic. Registering without a completed application form does not count as an RSVP.
